We now have now set up permanently in our home of Waharoa, but have moved from the Kōwhai Trailer into the new Griddle Earth Cafe nestled in the Village, just across from our usual spot in the reserve you can get now a scoop of our delicious flavours 7 days a week.

Our journey has seen us acquire many fruits for our labour, one of them being at the 2017 New Zealand Ice Cream Awards. The Crème de la Crème of two categories, plus multiple golds and silvers. When it comes to flavour, it’s all about keeping it simple and we didn’t have to venture far with the key ingredient produced from Ben and Sarah's very own Jersey Herd. It was our Velluto Blueberry Yoghurt Gelato that stole the judges taste-buds, taking out the Best in Category and Gold for the Gelato category, arguably becoming the best Gelato of the land. We now to date have a total count of 16 medals and hopefully still counting.

KŌWHAI CREAMERY IS A BOUTIQUE CREAMERY BASED IN WAHAROA, NEW ZEALAND. HAND CRAFTING GELATO USING INGREDIENTS OF A REGION HISTORICALLY RICH FOR IT’S DAIRY EXCELLENCE. THE BRAND WAS BORN IN 2015 WITH THE IDEA TO BRING THIS BACK.
WE BATCH MAKE OUR GELATO USING ONLY THE BEST FULL CREAM MILK FRESH FROM OUR OWN JERSEY HERD. THESE COWS ARE FED ON LUSH WAIKATO PASTURES AND FARMED USING ETHICAL, ECO-FRIENDLY, BIOLOGICAL AND SUSTAINABLE METHODS. WE THEN COMBINE IT WITH EXPORT QUALITY BERRY FRUIT GROWN IN OUR VERY OWN ORCHARD.
THIS STORY WON GOLD AND BEST IN CATEGORY AT THE 2017 NZ ICE CREAM AWARDS FOR OUR VELLUTO BLUEBERRY GELATO YOGHURT. WE MAKE MANY OTHER FLAVOURS, A BUNCH OF THEM AWARDED... THE OTHERS... KA PAI WE THINK.
